Puppies and kittens
Puppies and kittens are born with an immature immune system. Their first vaccines are given in the first weeks of life and repeated until the primary course is complete. We will explain the dates and number of doses your puppy or kitten needs at the appointment.
We use the first visit for a full health check, worming and answering your questions about the first months: feeding, socialisation and when they can go outside.
Adult dogs
- Rabies: required by law in Andalusia, once a year.
- Seven-in-one vaccine, protecting in a single dose against distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus (infectious hepatitis and respiratory), parainfluenza and leptospirosis.
- Optional, depending on lifestyle and risk: the leishmaniasis vaccine and a yearly injection that protects against heartworm.
Adult cats
- Three-in-one vaccine against panleukopenia, calicivirus and herpesvirus.
- Feline leukaemia if your cat goes outdoors or lives with other cats.
- Rabies: also required by law for cats in Andalusia, once a year.
Microchip, registration and passport
In Andalusia, dogs, cats and ferrets must be microchipped and listed on the official register. If your pet is not yet chipped, we can do it at the same visit, handle the registration and record every vaccine in their vaccination card or EU pet passport.
Frequently asked questions
How often does an adult dog need vaccinating?
It depends on the vaccine: some are yearly and others last longer. We give you a written schedule and remind you when the next one is due.
My cat never goes out. Does it still need vaccines?
Yes. Some viruses come in on clothes or shoes, and the rabies vaccine is compulsory. We adjust the schedule to your cat's real risk.
Are there side effects?
It is normal to see a little tiredness or soreness at the injection site for a day or two. If you notice anything else, give us a call.
